With reference to my confidential despatches of the

4th November on the subject of the expulsion and internment of German and Austrian residents, and the liquidation of German firms, I have the honour to transmit a copy of a letter from the United

States Consul-General here to the Colonial Secretary forwarding a letter signed by representative German firms in the Colony protest- ing against the suppression of German trade in the Colony, and a copy of the reply which I caused to be addressed to Mr. Anderson.
